For one week in May 2024, Graceland—Elvis Presley’s mansion in Memphis—received the type of intense media attention usually reserved for its owners rather than the estate itself. Reports initially claimed the property had been foreclosed and would be auctioned by Naussany Investments & Private Lending LLC. The company alleged that Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis's daughter, had used the mansion as collateral on a loan before her passing. Soon after, Riley Keough, Presley’s granddaughter and the rightful owner, came forward, revealing that her mother’s signature had been forged, and the sale was illegal.

James Claims Victory in Deed Theft Case

New York Attorney General Letitia James on Monday claimed victory after the New York County Supreme Court denied Joseph Makhani’s motion to dismiss the Office of the Attorney General’s (OAG) case against him for deed theft.

Husband and Wife Sentenced for Defrauding an Elderly Victim Out of Her Home and Obstruction of Justice

BOISE – James Dougherty, 44, of Boise, was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for wire fraud involving a scheme to defraud an elderly victim of money and real property, U.S. Attorney Josh Hurwit announced today. U.S. District Judge Amanda K. Brailsford also sentenced Dougherty to three years of supervised release to follow his prison term. His wife, Jessica Dougherty, 43, also of Boise, was sentenced to three years of probation for obstruction of justice.
